Meet Pastor Lawrence Ssemeganda, Pastor Lawrence oversees Remnant Junior Academy. The school supports about 50 orphans. While on our last trip to Uganda in 2009, Child Initiative provided school books and school fees for the Orphans of Victory Covenant. There is no public school system and without school fees these children will not receive an education. Pastor Lawrence was able to purchase a building, bring in certified teachers and has a stable school Pre-k through 5th running. Children from all over the area attend Remnant and the building allowed for dorms to be added for the orphans and teachers who double as the care takers. In October 2010, a clean water well was installed. Your support will allow us to continue to support the orphans of Victory Covenant and continue to help educate the children of Remnant Academy . Please watch the video with pictures from the mission trip in July 2010.

| At this location, you will see a work that is indescribable. A pastor and his wife building a school and orphanage from the land with their hands and no money. Such a desire to serve God and to see the children of the area have a chance at a future and education, I have never seen before. The two story building made completely of tree branches serves as a school for orphans and some of the other children of the area around Pr. Daniel and Anette’s Mityana location. Grace Childrens Home has over 75 orphans. Abandoned, AIDS, and war orphaned children make up the majority of these children. Pr Daniel has been working on a school building since 2008. This sweet spirited man told me he had a dream to finish the school by 2015 and give the orphans and other children in the area an opportunity to have education. He said “Ok we have no money, but we have land, we can do something!” I returned in May of 2009 having never forgotten those words, “We can do something!” CII has been supporting GCH by giving 1,100 pounds of top quality concrete mix to finish the brick walls of the school, school supplies, and new beds for the girls' dormatory. As off July 2010, Pr Daniel was given support to finish the roof of the school. Once, that is done and the new desks are installed. He will start on the boys' dormatory. They have 3 teachers who are so committed to this work, they teach for room and board only. The girls have a dorm with new beds and the boys sleep in Daniel and Anette’s home on the floor. With the help of CII this school and these people of faith will be able to achieve what they have set out to do. | Pastor and Mrs. Daniel Seruuma Mityana, Uganda |

The most recent location to join the Child Initiative is Jireh, in Kasasa, Rakki, Uganda. Rakki is located in Southern Uganda near the Tanzanian border. There you will find Pastor Dick Ssebandeke and over 30 orphaned children. Pr Dick has created a fostering program with the local families to take in and care for the children. Because of our sponsors, Pr Dick was able to put in 2 wells, built a new school, a latrene, and a kiln for bricks. As with the other locations, Pr Dick has 4 certified teachers at the school working for nothing more than room and board. There are several buildings in the area that are run down and in need of repair before they can be used. Kasasa is also receiving support for educational materals and building materials. Watch the video to the right to see pictures of Kasasa.
Pastor Eva Alexander comes from South East India. When I give you the credentials of this woman you will see why I am astonished at the situation. She served four terms in a political position, has known and worked with Mother Teresa. She has saved children, pulled them off the streets and fed them among other things. Mother Teresa would send prostitutes she had rescued to Pr. Alexander for help and rehabilitation. In return Pr. Alexander would send rescued babies and children to Mother Teresa. Pr. Alexander has carried on with both works in her area. She has rescued little girls who have been thrown away in trash cans because the families did not want to have to pay a dowry for them to marry as the families are poor and have nothing. She has rescued children who were starving to death brought them to her center and nursed them back to health. They are receiving an education, being fed and cared for. She found us in October 2010 when she was having a moment of deep despair and had been in prayer for guidance to someone who could come along side and help.

Pastor Herbert is the senior pastor of Victory Covenant church in Uganda. He was able to purchase some land that was originally used for witch craft and voodoo. The people in Namangoona was so pleased to have a church and school coming to this area. Pr. Herbert plans to make this building you see to the left a preschool and eventually expand to a full Pre-K to P6 school. Originally, the children from Herbert's church were being boarded at Remnant. In June of 2011, we left Pr Herbert with some money to start renovations and they are underway.
